| 1901 (30th May), envelope addressed and sent registered to England. Bearing ‘V.R.I.’ overprints on 2d brown and green, 3d purple and green and an ‘E.R.I.’ overprint on a 1d rose-red and green (SG 228, 230, 239) all tied by PRETORIA (30 MEI) double circle datestamps. Registered London (21 Jun) arrival datestamp struck on the front, additionally tying the 1d adhesive. A clean and attractive double weight franking paying twice the 1d per half ounce letter rate to England plus 4d registration fee. |
