1890 (19th September), long envelope (221x97mm) addressed to England with printed address ‘Luiperd’s Vlei Estate & Gold Mining Co., Ld.’ Bearing two ‘Vurtheim’ 6d pale dull blue (SG 182) tied by KRUGERSDORP Z.A.R. (19 Sep) truncated double circle datestamps. Endorsed ‘2’ in manuscript indicating the envelope was double weight. With Johannesburg (19 Sep), Cape Town (24 Sep) and London (13 Oct) transit / arrival backstamps. A fine double weight example of the 6d per half ounce letter rate to England, a rate in effect from the 1st October 1888 until 1st January 1891 when it was reduced to 4d per half ounce.
