| 1955 15th December, large piece brown wrapping paper (378x244 mm), sent from Edinburgh to Kitwe. Applied with printed 'PATRICK THOMSON'S' department store label, and bearing nine QEI 1/- Wildings, cancelled with large boxed strikes. Sent by airmail Parcel Post with appropriate label. Further with large 'CUSTOMS DECLARATION' label noting the contents as various clothing, with a value of £10 16/6. Upon arrival it would appear that the parcel was re-addressed back to England, with the application of a Federal customs form, but this deleted in blue. A further £3 3/- applied with QEII 1/- and £1 definitives (SG 9, 15), cancelled 'KITWE', and presumably for the return charge ? A truly remarkable item, worthy of further investigation |
