AM743 Postal History 1931, stampless cover addressed to Johannesburg bearing, at left a very fine strike of the TRISTAN DA CUNHA cachet (Type V, SG C6) struck in blue, with an additional strike on the reverse. The envelope was taxed and bears a circular ‘T/2D’ taxe marking and a South African 2d postage due (SG D19) has been applied at left (partly overlapping the envelope edge) and tied by a Johannesburg (19 Jan 32) double circle datestamp. The flap bears the crest of HMS Carlisle printed in blue. Some crumpling, otherwise fine. £45
AM742 Postal History 1937 (May), stampless cover addressed to Cape Town bearing a fine strike of the TRISTAN DA CUNHA cachet (Type VII, SG C9) struck in black. Endorsed on the reverse “Written in May 1937 / received in February 1938”. Flap missing and some crumpling, otherwise fine. £35
