AN420 1895 complete set of nine, 1d to £1, each overprinted SPECIMEN (type D12/D12x). Hinge remainders and the 2/6 with a few short perforations, otherwise all are fresh mint. Three high values are dramatically off-centre while the £1 is unusually well centred. SG 21s-29s £225

BLOCK OF FOUR with margins at top and base, controls 6 / P, F / 5, the lower difficult to detect possibly as a result of a horizontal pre-printing paper crease running through (should be 21 / WP, T / 20). NY1103 1898 (9th May), 'Armbruster' cover addressed to Fort Johnston bearing imperforate 1d vermilion and deep ultramarine 'cheque' stamps (Setting II, SG 56), a horizontal strip of five from the lower left corner of the pane. Cancelled crisp 'FORT JOHNSTON' MY 9 98' datestamps, sent registered locally addressed. The strip tied at left with large 'R' in circle handstamp. Most attractive. £1,250
