AM734 Revenue / Tribal Tax 1930-1935, official printed bilingual ‘Tribal Fund. Registration Certificate.’ (125x142mm). The reverse with printed boxed spaces for years 1930 to 1935. Bearing ½d definitive overprinted '5/- / Ondangua' in red (x 2), 3d definitive overprinted and surcharged 'Ondonga / 5/-' in red (x 3) and irregular block of three unoverprinted 1/- definitives, each cancelled with oval cachet, initials or circular datestamp. Folded / splitting horizontally and soiling as to be expected. Rare. £150
AM739 Revenue / Tribal Tax 1939 (20th January), letter (203x209mm) bearing a vertical pair of ½d definitives surcharged ‘5/-’ and overprinted ‘Ondangua’ in red, each pen cancelled and tied by a Mariental (20 Jan) oval datestamp struck in violet. The text reads “Payment of Tax by 2 unknown natives in respect of which the money has been accounted for during November and stamps to the value of 10/- not taken out of stock and affixed to their respective cards.” Very fine and rare. £175
AM735 Revenue / Tribal Tax 1944 (April), official printed bilingual ‘Tribal Fund. Registration Certificate.’ (127x143mm). The reverse with printed boxed spaces for years 1942 to 1947. The box for 1943 bears a 3d definitive overprinted and surcharged 'Ondonga / 5/-' in red while the box for 1944 also bears a 3d definitive though overprinted and surcharged 'Ukuanyama / 5/-'. Both are tied by ‘Superintendent of Natives / Walvis Bay’ oval cachets, apparently applied on the same date in April 1944. It is believed the use of stamps overprinted for different tribes was against regulations when used together (this card being one of three recorded examples). Folded horizontally, clear of adhesives, and some soiling as to be expected. Rare. SOLD
AM736 Revenue / Tribal Tax 1950-1954, official printed bilingual ‘Tribal Fund. Registration Certificate.’ (122x157mm). The reverse with boxed spaces each with printed ‘Year’ though undated. Bearing a vertical strip of five ‘Voortrekker’ 1d magenta commemorative overprinted and surcharged 'Ondonga / 5/-' in black, each tied by a ‘Native Commissioner / Ovamboland SWA’ boxed cachet and with relevant year ‘50’ to ‘54’ added in manuscript alongside each. Folded horizontally, affecting one adhesive and some light soiling as to be expected. Rare. £275

The reverse with printed boxed spaces for years 1936 to 1941 with the first two boxes each bearing a UPU ½d overprinted ‘Ondonga' (vertically) and surcharged ‘5/-’ in red, overlapping, and each tied by a bilingual ‘Native Commissioner’ oval cachet with ‘1950’ or ‘1951’ added in manuscript alongside. Folded horizontally, affecting one adhesive (which has other faults) and some minimal soiling. Rare. £150

The reverse with printed boxed spaces for years 1950-1955 with the year boxes for 1952 and 1953 each bearing a UPU ½d overprinted ‘Ondonga' (vertically) and surcharged ‘5/-’ in red, each tied by a bilingual ‘Native Commissioner / Ovamboland, SWA’ boxed cachet struck in violet. Folded horizontally, clear of the adhesives which are very fine. Minimal soiling. Rare. £275
